Upcoming Exhibition: Who Are These People?

Who Are These People?

Opening reception Dec. 11th, 6-9 pm

The idea of the “undiscovered genius” still permeates the mythology that the world of art rests upon.  From Van Gogh to Basquiat, those who stalk the galleries and studios of today’s emerging artists still hope to be the first to discover a talent for the ages.  While many great artists toil in obscurity, the current climate dictates an obscurity not of choice, but of diminishing opportunity.  In the spirit of RAID Project’s continuing vision of presenting the work of emerging artists, we proudly present the first in a series of surveys of works by underrepresented Los Angeles-based artists whose work demands a wider audience.  Who Are These People showcases 6 artists that, despite not having lengthy exhibition resumes, highlight bourgeoning trends and continued riffs on the traditions of their respective mediums of painting, drawing, photography and sculpture.

Featuring new works by:

JJ Garza

Michelle Jane Lee

Carrie McILwain

Neill Orje

Jeremy Oversier
